The proposed quiet cycle routes will link communities, businesses and destinations across the borough using clearly signed wayfinding. The routes will primarily follow side streets and parks, avoiding busy roads.</p><p>The intention is to create easy-to-navigate, safer, and quieter routes that will encourage more people to cycle, especially those who are less confident or comfortable riding in busier urban areas.</p><p>You can respond directly to the quiet cycle route consultation and give invaluable localised feedback <a class="fr-strong" href="https://wandsworthquietroutes.commonplace.is?utm_campaign=Wandsworth%252520Quiet%252520Cycle%252520Routes" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p>Cllr Jenny Yates, Wandsworth&rsquo;s Cabinet Member for Transport, said: &ldquo;These proposed quiet cycle routes will provide safer and lower-traffic options for cycling, which will help make Wandsworth a more attractive and accessible place to cycle. We really welcome feedback on this consultation and encourage residents across the borough to have their say.&rdquo;</p>

Route 12

Route 12 - Danebury Avenue to Putney stations (Roehampton central route) 

<p id="isPasted">This route connects the central portion of Roehampton ward with the stations in Putney via Danebury Avenue, Roehampton High Street, Putney Heath and either Dover Park Drive or Putney Park Lane before joining Route 11 for the rest of the way to the stations.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be the narrow carriageways with a high prevalence of stopped vehicles on Danebury Avenue and Putney High Street, vehicle speeds on Putney Heath, unsealed paths on Putney Park Lane, and the lack of right turning facilities at the junction of Dover Park Drive and Putney Heath.</p><p>The recommended changes to this route would be determined following public consultation.&nbsp;</p>

Route 10

Route 10 – Earlsfield Station to Burntwood Lane 

<p id="isPasted">This route connects the Springfield Hospital site with Earlsfield Station via Magdalen Road, Tranmere Road, Waynflete Street, Swaby Road, Lidiard Road, Openview and Burntwood Lane.</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be vehicle speeds and traffic volumes, the wide junction of Openview and Lidiard Road, and Lidiard Road and Headington Road.</p><p>The recommended changes to this route are as follows:&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Raised side road entry treatment across Tranmere Road at Magdalen Road.&nbsp;</li><li>A raised table at the junction of Wayneflete Street and Tranmere Road.&nbsp;</li><li>A modal filter on Swaby Road at Wayneflete Street.&nbsp;</li><li>Tighten the turning radius by extending pavements at the junction with Lidiard Road and Openview and Lidiard Road and Headington Road to reduce vehicle speed.&nbsp;</li></ul>

Route 9

Route 9 – Putney Heath to Putney Embankment

<p id="isPasted">This route connects Putney Heath to Putney Embankment via Carslake Road, Westleigh Avenue, Genoa Avenue, Hazlewell Road, Gwendolen Avenue, the South Circular, Charlwood Road, Felsham Road, Henry Jackson Road, March Place, Lower Richmond Road, Bendemeer Road and Rotherwood Road.&nbsp;</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be the mini-roundabout at the junction of Gwendolen Avenue and Hazlewell Road and the existing facilities into and surrounding Putney Heath.</p><p>The recommended changes to this route are as follows:&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Improved crossing at Putney Heath.&nbsp;</li><li>Traffic calming on Carslake Road.&nbsp;</li><li>Remove mini-roundabouts at junction of Chartfield Avenue with Genoa Avenue and junction of Gwendolen Avenue and Hazelwell Road.&nbsp;</li><li>Relocate loading bays and add insert loading bay on Gwendolen Avenue, replace existing gate with modal filter.</li><li>Traffic calming on Charlwood Road.&nbsp;</li></ul>

Bessborough Road to Putney stations (Roehampton southern route) 

Route 13

Route 13 – Bessborough Road to Putney stations (Roehampton southern route) 

<p id="isPasted">This route connects the southern portion of Roehampton ward with the stations in Putney via Bessborough Road, Durford Crescent, Wanborough Drive, Putney Heath, Portsmouth Road and then either Telegraph Road to connect with Route 12 or Wildcroft Road, Putney Heath Lane, Rusholme Road, Holmbush Road, Clockhouse Place, &nbsp;Keswick Road and Upper Richmond Road to East Putney Station.</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be the unsealed path and steep gradient of Putney Heath, the pinch point at the bridge connecting Keswick Road and Clockhouse Place, missing dropped kerbs, the lack of crossing facilities at the junctions with Roehampton Lane and Tibbet&rsquo;s Ride.</p><p>The recommended changes to this route would be determined following public consultation.</p>

Clarence Lane to Putney stations (Roehampton northern route)

Route 11 – Clarence Lane to Putney stations (Roehampton northern route) 

<p id="isPasted">This route connects the northern portions of Roehampton ward with the stations in Putney via Clarence Lane, the University of Roehampton, Roehampton Lane, &nbsp;Queen Mary&rsquo;s Hospital, Crestway, Putney Park Lane, Granard Avenue, Chartfield Avenue and Gwendolyn Avenue to either Putney Station via Upper Richmond Road, Charlwood Road, and Norroy Road or East Putney Station via St John&rsquo;s Avenue, Carlton Drive, and Upper Richmond Road.</p><p>An alternative option is also being considered to access East Putney Station and areas farther east in the Borough by connecting with Route 13 via Lytton Grove and Westleigh Ave (westbound)/Chartfield Ave (eastbound).</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be vehicle speeds and the steep gradient on Clarence Lane, a large number of mini-roundabouts, narrow carriageway from parking along Westleigh Avenue, pinch points at the alley connecting Putney Park Lane and Granard Avenue and the bridge connecting Keswick Road and Clockhouse Place, a lack of consistent access along non-public paths, and a lack of crossing facilities at the junctions with Upper Richmond Road, Putney Hill and Roehampton Lane.&nbsp;</p><p>The recommended changes to this route would be determined following public consultation.&nbsp;</p>

Route 7

Route 7 – Clapham Common to Wandsworth Common 

<p id="isPasted">This route connects Clapham Common to Wandsworth Common via Clapham Common West Side, Thurleigh Road, Blenkarne Road and Bolingbroke Grove.</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be the narrow entrance/ exist into Wandsworth Common, the lack of awareness of cyclists crossing from Blenkarne Road to Bolingbroke Grove.&nbsp;</p><p>The recommended changes to this route are as follows:</p><ul><li>Introduce raised crossing at junction of Blenkarne Road and Bolingbroke Grove.&nbsp;</li><li>Widen footway and improve crossing for safe passage to Wandsworth Common for cyclists.</li></ul>

Route 8

Route 8 – Putney Heath to Wimbledon Park  

<p id="isPasted">This route connects Putney Heath with Wimbledon Park via Telegraph Road, Tibbet&rsquo;s Corner, Withycombe Road, Princes Way and Woodspring Road.&nbsp;</p><p>The key constraints of this route would be the mini-roundabout located at Princes Way/ Augustus Road, the proximity of the bus cage at Tibbet&rsquo;s Corner to the cycle route, narrow sections for cycleways at Tibbet&rsquo;s Corner and Princes Way. Other minor constraints include the steep gradient of Princes Way, Woodspring Drive and Withycombe Road, which would cause most cyclists to travel at reduced speed.&nbsp;</p><p>The recommended changes to this route are as follows:</p><ul><li>Remove the mini-roundabout at Princes Way junction with Augustus Road and replace with priority junction.</li><li>Traffic calming on Princes Way, including changing all speed cushions to sinusoidal speed humps.</li><li>Regulate parking bays on Princes Way and remove some parking areas where road narrows.</li><li>Relocate the bus cage at Tibbet&rsquo;s Corner.</li><li>Widen the pathway at Tibbet&rsquo;s Corner.&nbsp;</li><li>Improve surfacing at Telegraph Road.</li></ul>
